 Product Description

Maudal Musical Machines (M Cubed) - Cherry Pop - Dual Source Resonator - Available in store only

Martin brought the Cherry Pop to the store and we were under her charm right away. With local grown woods (English walnut body and a black walnut neck,Olive tree binding) and some serious luthier skills, Martin handcrafted a unique instrument. Base on a traditional single cone biscuit bridge construction (Beard, nothing less), this resonator add a unique acoustic and electric pick up combination:

-  custom hand-wound P90 by David Plummer of

- K&K Biscuit Bridge pick up (The first pick up option didn't work the best but sharing our knowledge, we opted for a K&K bridge resonator pick-up - maybe the best resonator pick upon the market today - it works great and the Cherry Pop is now opening a vast musical landscape!)

Utilizing a modified 3 position tele switch you get the neck, neck/mic positions *in passive mode* so she will interact with a tube amp the way the gods intended, and in the "bridge" position you get the mic through a preamp to be sent direct to board or your favorite acoustic amp.

All of this adds up to an extremely *useful* guitar for the working fingerpicker and slide master who ranges from pure acoustic soul to swampy grit funk. A guitar that easily does the work of two...

About Maudal Musical Machines

Martin Maudal build every M cubed guitar by hand, one at a time. After working on a small tree crew for the last 6 years and while swinging around in trees playing with chainsaws, Martin have been hand picking some sweet woods - maple, walnut, ash, alder, cherry, sycamore, apricot, plum and many others which are great instrument woods and are native (or transplanted varieties) to the Claremont Ca area. Any woods used that he can't get locally, i.e. fingerboard material, will be “sustainable” woods such as bloodwood and macassar ebony.

Martin philosophy: "I like to leave certain reminders in the guitars I build of the fact that these instruments are created from living things. Not just living, but living eco-systems in and of themselves." M cubed guitars are a fine balance between the Japanese artistic ethic of "wabi sabi" (perfection in imperfection), and the precise engineering necessary to a beautifully playing and sounding guitar
